SHOW TIME!

We hope that everyone is having a great summer and that the weather has provided an opportunity for both volunteers and families to enjoy time together -outside the home!

While many of us may have been out and about a small group of Home-Start workers has been beavering away with plans for the first ever Home-Start charity concert!

It won’t be long before the leaves begin to fall, the nights begin to draw in –and the curtain raised on what will undoubtedly be a unique occasion! But before this can happen, they need your help!

Although they already have a great show-with a variety of brilliant acts in place –they do need more. So, if you have talents and are hiding them –or know somebody who would love to take part please let us know!  There will be one rehearsal only –on the day of the show.( Details  below.)

They also need people to sell entry & raffle tickets both before and at the show and to  perform general duties either backstage or in house. There’s a lot to do!

PLEASE LET JAN KNOW AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if

YOU KNOW A CLASS ACT WHO WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE SHOW

YOU WILL BE ABLE TO HELP BACKSTAGE OR IN HOUSE

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

This year’s Big Tea Party Fortnight is between 4th and 17th September.

Last year a number of volunteers held events in their homes and gardens and raised a considerable amount of money for the scheme.

If you want to take part and need some ideas Tel: 0870 220 6706 for a free pack .

BUT DO MAKE SURE THAT YOU SEND ANY MONEY RAISED DIRECTLY TO US AND

NOT TO THE NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS.

If you don’t want to bother ringing for the pack you could simply hold a coffee morning for your friends and neighbours

(it doesn’t have to be a tea party!) and suggest a small donation .

It’s a great way to get to know them – spread the word about Home-Start and raise funds for our work to continue.

Every little helps!

Please do all you can to help!

VOLUNTEER SUPERVISION AND TRAINING

Following consultation it has been decided that, starting in the autumn, we will run three training days each year (one each term). Volunteers will have an opportunity to meet co-ordinators for supervision and will receive further training from outside speakers making presentations on a selected theme.  There will of course be an opportunity to socialise and a shared lunch has been suggested.

Apart from this obvious attraction, there will be an emphasis on having both an instructive and enjoyable day together.

Further details will be circulated as soon as possible.
